Final sewing

before we are off on holiday. Three matching items to go with my new travel bag: a small purse, a wallet for travel documents and a cosmetic bag. My sewing maching will now get a well deserved break for a fortnight :-)

Crail Food Festival

I have lived here for ten years now but I've never been to Crail, what a lovely little village! They had their food festival on this weekend, with plenty of sunshine and great food ... and of course an Arbroath Smokie!

A while ago I showed you a sneak peek of what I was working on. Well, the travel bag is finally finished. And it is very spacious and quite sturdy. I used iron-on Vilene Decovil plus a layer of iron-on volume fleece to give it more body. The pattern is from the Farbenmix CD Taschenspieler which has 11 different bag patterns (unfortunately, only available in German though), from a small cosmetic bag to this enourmous travel bag, which has a remarkable size of 55x29x20cm! Perfect for our upcoming holiday....

Sewing workshop

It was actually going to be a t-shirt workshop today with two students but as one lady had to cancel the other one decided to make a pinafore instead as she felt she could learn more different skills making a dress. And what a lovely dress she made - never done it before - she cut out the fabric with accuracy and even decided to go for embellishment on the front pocket. A really great job, but see for yourselves:

Summer dresses

No, not for Leoni, this time for me!!! With our holiday only three weeks away I thought I'd better start on my wardrobe. The pattern is the pintuck tunic, Ottobre design issue 2/2008 (unfortunately discontinued). I used this pattern for a long sleeved tunic before and it is an absolute perfect fit for me. For the sleeveless version I only made the armhole slightly wider as I found it too tight, especially for hot summer days. Both made from viscose jersey.

A sneak peek

at what I'm working at at the moment (next to two other projects I have on the go just now): a travel  bag that has been on my to-do list for a while. I managed to cut out the materials and now I'm waiting for some bag making supplies that hopefully arrive by the end of this week.
