Sewing workshops

From April on I will be running sewing workshops here in my workroom in Dundee. If you are an absolute beginner and would like to learn basic sewing skills or a more advanced sewer who would like to try out new things, just come along. We'll be making loop scarfs, owl cushions, and of course clothes for children like trousers, pinafores and t-shirts. To download the programme click here. New coat

I think they did a really good job with the last Ottobre magazine 5/2012 as it contains quite a few patterns that I like. So I started with the "Perfect Autumn" coat. I made it in boiled wool, no lining,  and it was a quick and easy make as you don't need to finish the seams as wool doesn't fray. Still a bit too cold for this weather, but spring is not far away, is it?

And how winter is here...

.. it's been snowing all day and we're kind of snowed in. I have only been out to clean the path but that's all covered again! Everything is so peaceful outside, I wonder how long it will last....

Heinz' beans tins

I saw a tutorial for decorating tins on facebook a while ago and had to try it out, it's very quick and easily done:

It is always very dangerous to visit a sewing machine shop...for me anyway. When I went to pick up my machine that got serviced over Christmas, for some reason these two little beauties wouldn't let me go home without them:

 

They are both reconditioned machines, but in perfect working order and they were a bargain, honestly. And now you think: what on earth does she need more sewing machines for? Well, I'll be offering workshops here at Dots n Stripes headquarter soon, so I really needed an extra two. More details on when and what will follow soon.
