New patterns - Mamu Design

While browsing the net I found this promising website for sewing patterns: Mamu Design. Mariya Muschard designs childrens, womens and dolls patterns, they all have English translations and a detailed photo tutorial and design examples can be found on their website. And: they will soon be available at Dots N Stripes!

We are back

Why do holidays always go so quickly? - But we had a really nice time visiting friends, been out and about a lot on the sunny days (there were a few rainy ones as well) and simply enjoyed being back in Germany again with my family. And now Leoni is counting the weeks until her "Oma" (German for granny) is coming over for a visit. Still seven weeks to go...

VIDA summer dress - in the making

I had a lot of remnant pieces from other projects left and what pattern is better to use them than Farbenmix' VIDA? The dress is ideal for combining different materials and colours, you mix some blue, pink and green poplins with white dots and red flowers, add various ribbons and a velours applique - and you get a truly unique summer dress! Sometimes you will be amazed at what colours look really nice together, try it out! Here are some photos of the "making", the photo of the complete dress will follow when we are back from our holiday in two weeks.

Occasionally I sew for myself

Looking through my wardrobe this morning, I realised that I don't have many lightweight summer trousers. So I had a look through my Ottobre magazines and found this pattern in the issue 2/2009:



I've made a pair of trousers from one of their patterns before and was very pleased with the result, they fit perfectly. And so do these. They are made from a lightweight beige linen fabric and have a concealed zip at the side. Perfect for the upcoming holiday :-) Mmh, I could do with a matching top now as well....
