Leoni's teacher is going on maternity leave soon and the parent group asked me to 'make something'. She's having a boy so I decided to go for dungarees. I found this pattern in the OTTOBRE design issue 3/2007 and I quite liked it as it has a button on the inside leg too so the leg can be folded up. The fabric is the Pueril from Hilco. I hope it will fit in summer, it's a size 86, looks big though, but then the baby is already ten months old....yes, she is adopting a boy :-)

El Porto

The bag is finished - and it was really fun to sew. Leoni loves it and has already stuck her favourite badges on. I lined it with some kind of wipeable fabric which I had for ages, much lighter and thinner than oilcloth, but very suitable for carrying wet swim clothes! The only thing I would change should I sew one again is the strap, it is a bit on the short side, otherwise it's a really great bag! Here are some photos:

Where's my motivation gone?

I'm full of cold (actually have been for the past 10 days :-() and not really in the mood for sewing. But nevertheless I traced the pattern for the EL PORTO bag from Studio Tantrum today and cut out the pieces. I thought I'd make one for Leoni with all my leftover material (did I tell you that I've got plenty...?) for her to take to her swimming. I was quite impressed by all the different designs... Anyway, here a sneak preview of mine:

It's hard to imagine that this is going to be a bag, but I will upload more photos when I've put some of the pieces together. Hopefully my motivation will come back soon...

Sewing t-shirts is fun

One of my problems is (although I don't see it as one :-), that I can't throw leftover pieces of fabric away. Even the smallest ones are kept in a big box until I can't close the lid anymore. And as Leoni has grown out of most of her t-shirts, it was time to rake through the overflowing box of jersey remnants and "produce" some new t-shirts.
I really like the ANTONIA pattern as this is an excellent way of mixing and matching. So I sewed these three t-shirts over the past couple of days and when they were done, Leoni chose the velours appliques she wanted (she actually would have covered the shirts in appliques if I hadn't stopped her) and I ironed them on.
Done, child happy, what more do I want :-)
